THE SUBTEXT OF ANGER

The Subtext of Anger is an essay in film. It explores the emotion, expression and root causes that drive us to anger. World-renowned professors of Psychology, Sociology and Neurology from the US, UK and India, along with voices from amongst us, examine the cause and impact of anger in these times of pressure and speed. Anger is addictive and can become chronic, under exposure to constant stress in our daily lives. The film delves deep into the psyche and the emotion to understand why we may be experiencing and witnessing such disproportionate outbursts of anger within and around us. In this context, the film is a comment on the times we live in.

Vandana Kohli is a filmmaker, musician and writer with an interest in the human mind and behaviour. An alumna of FTII and UCLA, her films have included projects on Anger, Biotechnology, Women, Major Depression, Music, Crime, Biographies, Indian Air Force and Indian Law, amongst others. Vandana writes a weekly column “Mindscape”, for The Week (beta) on mind-brain-psyche and is currently writing a book on mental health. Ladies, this promises to be an interesting morning ... current as ever!
