FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENTS

The end of the heavy rains in Mumbai is slowly trickling in and with it cool weather, less pollution and a more cheerful disposition; at the same time, the weather in Europe is upside down, with unusual hot temperatures and fires afflicting many countries. We all have a responsibility towards our world and we too, individually, can affect environmental changes. It’s an awesome and sobering responsibility and ‘Going Green’ is a formidable legacy to look forward to. In the words of the anthropologist Margaret Mead “Never doubt that a small group of citizens of committed, thoughtful citizens can change the world”.

Spending time with one another over music, art, a good book or interesting conversations generally lifts us up and so it is with INDUS where so many fantastic meetings take place every month. We ended June on a high note with our Indus Nightingales regaling us and July, too, ended with no other that Mehmood Curmally - Elvis Presley belting out Elvis songs & almost bringing him to life.

This month too, so much excitement and interesting get togethers await you and our trippers are all set to leave for the lush South.

You may have noted how our Welfare meetings now give you the opportunity of actually getting involved in worthy causes and this month too, the Welfare Chairladies have organized some NGOs so please do come and support them.

Our Fellowship on Islamic culture is around the corner. Don’t forget to register and come in your lucknowis, zardozis & anarkalis. All those who wish to contribute in any way, please contact Tinu or Rachel.

At meetings we reiterate the tea, coffee & biscuits policy and thanks all our hostesses for adhering to this. And please don’t forget to wear your name badge!

Ladies have expressed that they would sometimes like the contact details of some of our speakers. Please contact the respective Chairladies & they will help you.

This month our favorite deity Ganesh will visit us for 10 days. May His blessings be showered on all of us throughout the year.
