CARTONNAGE

Cartonnage is a craft that allows you to create all types of objects made out of scratch cardboard. Cartonnage can be used for storage, toys and gifts. Actually the options are unlimited and the best thing about this handicraft is that you decide on the look and the dimensions of your project.

Our member Marie Bulchandani learned the craft of cartonnage in Paris from Catherine Jardon, author of several books on cartonnage. The craft is intrically linked to Japanese origami and the culture of folding and presenting nicely with fine attention to detail.

Marie will first show you the materials and tools used for cartonnage. Then she will explain the basics and make a sewing kit from scratch in front of you. Some of her projects will be on display.

This will be a unique occasion to learn about this craft. Who knows…maybe this could possibly become a new hobby as it does not require particular skills.
