I had changed. It was as if I had experienced a whole life in those months. The responsibility handled was way beyond my years and I had rejoiced with extreme jubilation but had also suffered terrible loss. Captain Dinesh had been killed in an encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir while serving in The Rashtriya Rifles. He was all of 25. It was me who broke the news to Anshu, his lovely wife. That night, that scream, that uncontrollable shaking of my knees will stay with me for as long as I live.”
