WHY INFECTIONS NEED REUNDERSTANDING

Dr. Om Shrivastav is trained in Australia in Infectious Diseases and Immunology and practices treatment of Infectious Diseases, Immunology and HIV in South Mumbai.

He is an Honorary Consultant at Jaslok,Saifee and Wockhardt Hospitals and also the Unit Head at, Kasturba Hospital for communicable diseases. Husband to our President Penelope, he is also an author to many books on the subject

Infectious Diseases has come to dominate our lives in the last ten years like no other illness. The burden of infections from food and water (like hepatitis and typhoid) , from aerosols( like tuberculosis and swine flu), and from vectors( like dengue and malaria ) is not trivial and there appears to be little respite from infections. This is not including the substantial burden of bacterial, viral and fungal infections.

The direction forward requires a strategy for patient care to be revised and look at options to optimize care and focus on providing the expertise in risk assessment that is tailored to every individual.

We expect you all to be there and increase our awareness on infectious diseases.
