HAPPY FEET GO SCOTTISH COUNTRY DANCING

Scottish country dancing is a sociable dance form with roots stretching back over centuries. It is mainly done for pleasure, where dances with interesting formations, backed by wonderful Scottish music, make for a very enjoyable way of keeping fit.

The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society (RSCDS) was formed in 1923 with the aim of practising and preserving country dances, as danced in Scotland. There are now more than 20,000 members and branches throughout the world.

Diane Chatterjee, an Indus members and a Scot from Edinburgh, has been a member of the RSCDS for more than 25 years. Prior to her move to Mumbai, she was a demonstration dancer with the Edinburgh branch and has performed at many events including the opening of the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh and at Holyrood Palace for HRH Princess Anne.

If your feet are tapping at the thought of a reel, jig or strathspey, this is the workshop for you. We will all have an opportunity to learn more about the dance form and to try out some very simple dances!
