DAUGHTERS OF MOTHER INDIA

Join us to view Vibha Bakshi's documentary awarded by the President of India, the highest honour for Indian films! ‘Daughters of Mother India,’ is a journey through the aftermath of the horrific rape and murder of a 23 year old medical intern in New Delhi on 16th December 2012. For the first time in the history of the Indian Police, cameras were allowed inside the Delhi Police Control and Command room, right after the rape and murder of Nirbhaya. This documentary goes inside Indian society and the Indian Government and looks at the swift and radical changes being made by the Police, Judiciary and community groups that are provoking a dialogue on the current sexist attitudes and how to bring about a change.

The Guardian National Film Award jury: “explicitly and determinedly turning the spotlight on the burning issue of rape in the country and the brutal mentality that drives it.”

The Huffington Post: “India's story of resolve, activism and hope”

US Consul General Ms. Helen LaFave: “well-deserved win of the 62nd National Award for Best Film on Social Issues”
