AN AFTERNOON WITH A MAESTRO

Ashok Khosla is a name to reckon with in the world of Ghazals. He received training in classical music initially from Pandit Laxman Prasad Jaipurwaleji and later from Pandit Firoz Dastur Sahab.

He was trained in light genres like Ghazals and Geet by his mentor Shri Kuldeep Singhji.

His journey into the music world started aptly with a devotional song, a Bhajan sung by him, ‘Itni Shakti Hamein Dena Daata,’ in the film ‘Ankush’. This Bhajan composed by Shri Kuldip Singhji went on to be sung as a morning prayer in many schools in India.

His debut ghazal, ‘Ajnabi shahar ke ajnabi raaste,’ in the album, ‘The Brightest talent of the 80’s’, won him international acclaim. This album was composed by the Badshah of Ghazals, Jagjit Singhji.

With that started his foray into the beautiful world of Ghazals. He then got a break to sing Ghazals in a solo album, ‘Ta-aruf’ produced by Music India and composed by Shri Kuldeep Singhji. Several albums followed: Aftab, Dhanak, Dil Nawaaz, Maikhana, Khwab Tumhare, Tere Hothon Ko Salaam, Mulaqaat, Obsessions and so on….

He has captured the hearts of ghazal lovers during his umpteen performances abroad.

He is among the few distinguished musicians to have performed thrice at the prestigious Wembley Conference Centre in London, UK.

He has now come out with a new ghazal album, ‘Ishq

Ke Aage,’ through Times Music.

Since last seven years he has been organizing a Ghazal

festival, ‘Ghazal Bahaar’ in aid of a senior citizen home in Pune run by Ashok Khosla himself.

His musical journey of performing concerts continues in India and abroad.
