HINDUSTANI CLASSICAL MUSIC (KHAYAL STYLE) AND ITS INCORPORATION IN THE SCENE OF FUSION OR WORLD MUSIC IN INDIA

The module by charismatic Geetika Varde Qureshi creates awareness of Hindustani Classical Music and serves as an incentive to further listening of classical music.

Precise, clear and painstakingly expressive-that's Geetika Varde Qureshi, a disciple of the renowned singer, Smt. Manik Bhide, vocalist of the Jaipur-Atrauli gharana and wife of Percussion and Djembe maestro Taufiq Qureshi.

Commonly used terms, the Indian concept of on-beat and off-beat to create modern and classical rhythm improvisations will be explored and explained in a conversational manner, interspersed with similes, anecdotes & more so by live demonstration of vocalization.

Come join us to find that true fusion music is based on tradition, but in a contemporary arrangement.
