“Schools without Classrooms – Rewriting Education!”

My personal reflection, contribution and approach to the vast scape of education and the areas it touches and impacts has refined the educationist in me. Given that education lays the foundation for the growth of an individual, a society and a country, it is imperative to look at the way the pandemic has changed the way institutions work and what the new normal means for students, teachers and parents as we navigate these unknown and uncertain times.

Anjali Karpe is the Deputy Head and Head of Student Life at the Bombay International School. Along with her leadership responsibilities, Anjali is passionate about the subjects she teaches, English Literature and History, and sees her greatest joy in helping students discover their potential outside of the purely academic domain. While holistic student growth is seen by many as the most impactful, Anjali believes that schools need to make a concerted effort to drive this; alongside this, she also feels that parent support for this endeavour truly allows the child to reach great heights.

Anjali is an ELSA from the 1984 batch, graduating in English (Hons.). She went on to do her Masters in English from Delhi University and followed it up with an M.Phil. from Mumbai University.

Anjali’s career path has been fairly meandering – from writing books for children, to running creative writing classes, teaching pre-schoolers to high school students, from mentoring students in the co-curricular space to facilitating book clubs for adults.
