Located in the heart of the art district of Mumbai, the Keneseth Eliyahoo Synagogue is a Grade II A Classical Revival Structure. This monument is one of the most significant Jewish synagogues in India and is a place of worship for Mumbai’s Baghdadi and Bene Israeli Jewish Community. Originally designed by Bombay architects Gostling and Morris, the Synagogue has been restored to its original grandeur through the collaborative efforts of oJSuWndFation, Sir Jacob Sassoon and Allied Trust, Kala Ghoda Association, and World Monument Fund.

 

Preeti Goel Sanghi was the project coordinator for this and will share her insights on the architectural features, the restoration process with a guided walk through the building. Preeti is     an architect with a Master’s in Sustainable Development from Staffordshire University, UK, and has worked in the building sector for over 25 years. She currently heads the art, culture and heritage section of the JSW Foundation.
