CA SNEHAL MUZOOMDAR’S PASSION FOR THE SANTOOR
The Santoor is a Kashmiri instrument of Persian origin found in Iran, Afghanistan, Russia, Poland, Hungary and China. In the Iranian language, ‘San’ means one hundred and ‘toor’ means strings. It is also called a predecessor of the modern day piano as its two sticks gently touch the set of strings and delights the audience with its resonance and reverberations.
Snehal Muzoomdar, a practising Chartered Accountant has performed all over India , Europe and USA. He is also a regular contributor to leading publications and has written columns on taxation and classical music.
He has performed on radio and Doordarshan in India and the UK and is the President of the Indian Musicological Society amongst others.
Let’s come together to hear him experiment with the ‘jugalbandi’ of the North and South Indian styles of music through the Santoor.
