FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENTS
Life is About Cycles.
We, women, know it more than others. We give birth, see our daughters grow, they give birth when their time comes, and all things start anew. More than any other place, India teaches us about these cycles. As Dinoo and I were browsing through the newsletters from previous years, we realise that in July, the Presidents write about the monsoon. Always. It might be because, as we draft these lines in pre-monsoon times, after a scorching summer, we can’t wait for the rain to come back. We’re in a hurry. We want the downpours, the gusty winds, the rolling waves – right now as I write I swear the sea is sweating, which surely explains the humidity. We want the clogged roads and the renewed traffic jams – or do we? But don’t forget to plan ahead when attending this month’s meetings; punctuality is one of the most appealing qualities of any Indus member.
Our life is about cycles Bombay’s weather is about cycles. And Indus is about cycles too. In addition to the exciting meetings organised by our chairladies, you can look forward to our domestic trip in the first week of October. This year, Indus will take you exploring the best of Malabar in South India. Our travel committee composed of Anuradha Toshniwal, Indira Kilachand and Dina Desai has planned for you a seven-night tour which will allow you to enjoy the cultural highlights of the South as well as the cooling breezes from the Indian Ocean, not forgetting of course friendship and laughter. And yes, they’ve planned some shopping too. We’ve heard some of our die-hard travellers are very serious shoppers.
Meanwhile, enjoy the renewed cycle of Indus, our monthly meetings, the fellowships to come, the Annual Event – on that you will learn more next month, as in Indus, we like to keep you in suspense too!
