MODERN TWIST TO TRADITIONAL CRAFTS

Recent times have seen an encouraging surge in the support and revival of traditional crafts. Our speaker, Malvika Vaswani is a graduate from the Rhode Island School of Design. Starting her professional life in New York City she designed jewellery for BCB Generation, Trebbianno and home ware for Teroforma. Back in India she has worked with Pinakin Patel and Rooshad Shroff.

Malvika is a designer, on a journey to understand and create a range of contemporary jewellery that meets modern sensibilities while providing sustainability to the craftsman. Working with the highly skilled crafts men, she developed “Malvika Vaswani” a new cross-disciplinary design house, creating products across categories. The brand is the meeting point of design, craft and process, resulting in a unique collection.

Today we meet to get a “first viewing”, and lend our support to our youth who commit themselves to support and revive our culture and crafts.
