SATHYA SARAN ON THE LIFE OF JAGJIT SINGH
Sathya Saran is one of India's leading journalists and has been editor of the popular women's magazine Me, one of DNA's many publications and earlier the Editor of Femina.
Apart from short stories and articles on cinema she has written extensively on issues concerning women. She has won a number of awards for her contribution to journalism.
Strongly influenced by Hindi cinema and its music, Sathya grew up singing songs from the 1960s.
Today Sathya will give us a presentation about ghazal maestro,
Jagjit Singh, following the milestones of his life, from his childhood singing Shabads at the Gurdwara to his success as a trail blazer in popularising the ghazal. She will also discuss his interactions and collaborations with Chitra Singh and Lata Mangeshkar.
Join us for an interesting and informative morning about one of India’s great musicians.
