HUNGARIAN CUISINE BEYOND GULYAS

Hungarian cuisine traditionally focused on meat dishes due to the original nomadic lifestyle of the Magyar tribes arrived in Europe 1100 years ago. However Hungarian cuisine has much more to offer besides Gulyás, Paprikás and other traditional meat dishes. Even vegetarians can find to their likes many items. Nowadays vegetarian variations of traditional tastes are even more popular, as consciousness of health, nature or spiritualism become part of the life of many more.

Anita Révai-Bere, wife of the Consul General of Hungary in Mumbai learnt as practising cook during their assignments in several Asian countries with vegetarian communities how to combine traditional tastes with vegetarian options in representing Hungarian cuisine. Not to mention she is vegetarian too.
