‘EXODUS OF ETERNAL WANDERERS’

Born in Assam, Sudipta Das (b.1985) completed her BFA and MFA in Painting from Kala Bhavana, Santiniketan in 2009 and 2011 respectively. Sudipta is an award-winning visual artist who explores poignant narratives through the unconventional use of Hanji paper. She explores the idea of bearing witness and importance of the intimate socio-political issues and realities of climate change and human migration.

Sudipta Das will discuss her works from her recent exhibition at Latitude 28, The Exodus of Eternal Wanderers. These installations of miniaturized human figures repeating an endless loop of human exodus and displacement, are influenced by personal experiences, archival materials and family histories. Her sculptures depict the eternal journey in search of home. Sudipta will discuss her methodology and artistic process addressing her choice of Hanji paper as a medium, her subject matter, and how art can be used to evoke empathy and a passion for others.
