THE FIRST CITIZENS OF INDIA
The night of 9th August 1942 is still alive in Mr Chaturvedi’s eyes. He remembers seeing the Indian tricolor being hoisted for the first time amidst clouds of smoke, gunshots and cries of “Vande Mataram”.
Within a few years, many such precious stories will be lost to us forever.
The Citizens’ Archive Of India uses oral history and material memory to build our country’s story through it’s best storytellers – it’s people!
Heritage professional and Project Head of CAI, Malvika Bhatia, will tell us about the importance of documenting these fantastic stories, photographs and experiences of that generation of people who lived through the Partition and the making of a New India. And her own learning while running this project for almost a year.
