CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to our senior member Annabel Mehta on being awarded the MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for her outstanding work & service to the underprivileged communities in Mumbai and the NGO Apnalaya. Annabel has been recognized and honored by the UK government for over 40 years of service to these communities in India.

 

Congratulations to our members  Kaya Shewakramani and Rina Kapadia on becoming  grandmothers.

THE INDUS TRIPS

1)  Indus is planning a trip to Leh-Ladakh for 6 nights-7 days from the 30th Sept 2017 to 6th October 2017. Ladakh is a land of high passes, snow-smothered mountain peaks, gorgeous tree-shorn lunar landscapes dotted with high cliffs, lakes and monasteries. The 7 day excursions include visits to Lamayuru, Leh, Alchi Monastery, Magnetic Point and a drive to Pangong Lake, crossing the Changla Pass at 17,500 ft. Some of the amazing lakes change colour 4-5 times aday. Also included are small excursions to nomadic villages, camel rides, visits to Samstaling Monastery, the 100 ft. Buddha, Nubra and visiting the world famous Khardongla Pass at 18,360 ft. The Rancho school featured in the famous Bolllywood movie-The 3 Idiots and the Namgayal Fort, Thiksey Gompa & Shey Palace are also included in this itinerary.

 

An advance payment of Rs. 10,000 is required and cheques should be made out to holidays@leisure.

.2)  Indus has also planned a short exciting trip to Kumbalgarh Fort, Ranakpur and the Bera leopard safari in Rajasthan for 2 days/ 3 nights from the 18th to 20th November 2017.  Ranakpur is the most beautiful of all Jain temples in Rajasthan- also known as the tranquil pilgrimage town, built in the 15th century. Kumbalgarh is one of the finest examples of defensive fortification in Rajasthan and after a sightseeing tour; the highlight will be the Sound and Light show at the Fort. Bera is a leopard sanctuary and we will be doing 2 jungle safaris and hopefully will sight many leopards!
