EXPLORING THE MAJESTIC ROYAL OPERA HOUSE

The Royal opera House is India’s only surviving opera house. The adjective “Royal” was prefixed to “Opera House” as the foundation stone for this iconic and majestic building was laid during the British raj in 1909 and inaugurated by King George V in 1911 while it was still under construction.

The Royal Opera House was acquired by Maharaja of Gondal in 1952 on a 999 year lease. Extensive restoration work was carried out from 2009 and this beautiful building returned to its former glory when its doors were thrown after 23 years.

Today, Avid Learning and the Royal Opera House, Mumbai present an exclusive walk through of this stunning building for the members of Indus.

Kruti Garg, conservation architect of Abha Narain Lambah Associates, along with Asad Lalljee, curator Royal opera House and CEO, Avid Learning will take us through the gorgeous Royal Opera House to understand and explore the space from its curatorial philosophy and to learn more on its position not just as a spectacular venue but as a catalyst in the revival of performing arts and culture in the city.

Ladies, this promises to be a fabulous morning as getting an

opportunity to explore this jewel, truly one of its kind
