Jainism is one of the oldest faiths in the world. Despite having a numerically small following, the impact of Jainism on the philosophy, history and culture of India and the clout of the Jain community in the fields of high finance, stocks and shares, real estate and commodity trading is huge. However, not much is known about the fundamental doctrines and philosophical bulwarks of this faith other than its strict adherence to nonviolence. We have asked Manish Modi to shed light on the fundamental doctrines of Jainism.

Manish is an independent scholar who has translated over 70 Jain texts from Prakrit and Sanskrit into English. A bookseller by profession, Manish has published a large number of Jain texts with reader-friendly translations in English and Hindi.
