FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENTS

François Rabelais, a French Renaissance writer, wrote that “Good things come to those who wait”.  We do wonder, however, how many of us are really patient people. We could not wait for the monsoon to arrive;  now we can’t wait for it to leave, because  we get weary of the clogged roads and endless traffic jamsꜝ We can’t wait for our favourite festivals to come, and they are just  around the corner -  Raksha Bandhan, Ganesh Chaturthi, Navratri, Dusshera & Diwali.

Some of us can’t wait to be at the domestic airport in early October, all pepped and ready to board a plane to the Malabar Coast, for a week full of laughter, discoveries … and chatter! Ladies, do sign up for what promises to be – once more – a memorable trip!

No, patience might not be our most redeeming quality. But generosity surely is. Our Festival of Charities committee ladies are already busy preparing for this major event of Indus life. They need your help. Please contact them with ideas, suggestions and offer to give some of your time. Please note the Festival will be this year held slightly earlier than usual, on the 29th of November.

By the way, the movie “The Lunch Box” has been a hit with the French box office. People there are gushing about how “Indians are so good at organizing things”. We do not know about all Indians, but we do know that our Indus chairladies are good organizers. So, once more, look forward to a month filled with exciting, enriching and well-organized meetings!
