URBAN PLANNING

Alan Abraham, joint principal architect of Abraham John Architects, aims to share his vision of a greener, more vibrant Mumbai with ‘The Bombay Greenway Project’which won the International Urban Planning & Design Competition Velo-city, 2013 Austria.  They are now looking to execute the plan, touted to be the single biggest urban project undertaken in Bombay post-independence. The first proposal of the project looks at turning the Railway into Greenway —envisioning a 21st century Greenway over the existing railway lines, 114 km of continuous, flat, traffic and stress free space to encourage the active modes of transportation and healthy city living.

Alan Abraham says, “We are envisioning a stretch from Virar to Churchgate, Thane to CST and Mankurd to CST that will act as an open green corridor. It will allow people to cross from the eastern to western line conveniently and will also amplify its beauty.” You don’t want to miss this sneak peek of Mumbai’s exciting future!
