FORTY RULES OF LOVE
LOVE... Divine love…. binds two men, 800years ago.
Mohammed Jelal-ud-Din Rumi, considered one of the greatest mystical poets. The other, Shams of Tabriz, a wandering Sufi known as parinda or bird of passage.
The tale of Rumi and Shams is re-told by Aziz Zahara, living in Amsterdam, in a book called ‘Sweet Blasphemy’, and sent to publishers in the U.S. It is given by the literary agent to Ella to review and the tale works its magic on two complete strangers across two continents.
Elif Shafak is a Turkish author, columnist and best-selling writer. She is the most distinctive voice of contemporary Turkish literature, awarded the title Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2010.
Having lived all over the world, Shafak is able to blend the cultures of East and West in her writing with great sensitivity.
