Bruges has some of the best examples of unspoiled medieval architecture in Europe. The willow-lined canals, whitewashed buildings and winding streets make it a dreamy city. In the afternoon, half-day sightseeing tour with local English speaking guide. Visit the two town squares: the Markt, overlooked by the medieval 270-foot belfry, and the Burg, flanked by an impressive collection of architecture, including the flamboyant Gothic Town Hall. Visit De Halve Maan Brewery, learn about its history, brewing techniques, and enjoy views across the city from the top of the building with a cold glass of Brugse Zot or Straffe Hendrick. Dinner at hotel/local restaurant. Overnight in Bruges.

DAY 3 (28 SEPT, MONDAY) Enjoy the Lake of Love (Minnewater) in the morning light and at its most peaceful. Then proceed to discover the rest of Bruges, the “Venice of the North”: artistic wealth, innumerable monuments, historical buildings and churches. Pass by the Belfort, the Straffe Hendrik Brewery. Next, Bruges’ largest and most iconic structure: the Church of Our Lady. The 400-foot spire-topped steeple can be seen from all over the city and, from inside the tower, you can see far across Belgium – as far as the Netherlands on a clear day. The church houses Madonna and Child – one of the very few of Michaelangelo’s works that you will find outside of Italy. See the Botanical Gardens, Guido Museum, Jerusalem Church, and beautiful windmills dating from the 1770s. Admire the numerous canals and medieval houses. Lunch at local restaurant on direct payment. For dessert, a delectable chocolate factory tour, to find out all there is to know about the famous Belgian `pralines` and the history of chocolate. Rest of the evening is free at leisure or for shopping. Dinner at hotel/local restaurant. Overnight in Bruges.
