LIFE THROUGH A LENS

Today we have with us acclaimed photographer Ashima Narain who has managed her career to provide flexibility in her diverse interests – she has worked as a portrait, fashion, advertising, wildlife, wedding, documentary and NGO photographer. Currently, she works in Mumbai as the Photo Editor for National Geographic Traveller India.

Amongst the other feathers in her cap she has been National Photo Editor for Paprika Media (Time Out India), directed and shot 2 wildlife documentaries, “In The Pink” and “The Last Dance”, both were aired on Discovery channel, and received several awards from various international festivals, as well as nominations for a Panda Award, also known as the Green Oscar.

She has been the recipient of the Commonwealth Photographer of the Year in 2004, the Ramnath Goenka Nature & Environment Photographer of the Year 2006, the UK Environment Film Fellowship 2006 and the Best Asian Wildlife Documentary award from Japan Wildlife Film Festival 2008.

Ashima is going to take us on her photographic journey through her work. She would like to end the talk with an interactive session and has requested if members would like to share their work or of a photographer that they admire, then they should carry max 3 images on a pen drive.
