A MORNING OF INSTRUMENTAL INDIAN CLASSICAL MUSIC

-The Jaltarang and The Violin -

Mr. Virendra Shah a 84 years old practising Chartered Accountant will show case his style and prove that “one is never too old”......

He wanted to become a painter but since his conservative family was against it, on the advice of an aunt, he learnt to play the jaltarang, a percussion instrument,  when he was just ten years old.

The jaltarang consists of a set of ceramic or metal bowls tuned with water. The bowls are played by striking the edge with beaters It was made famous by George Harrison who played the jaltarang on the title track of his 1982 album Gone Troppo.

Mr Shah learnt the violin under the tutelage of the famous Mr.V.G.Jog He has given performances both within and outside the country. He has accompanied Bismillah Khan on some of his tours.

He will be accompanied by Mr Rupak Pawar a tabla artist, who, too has given several performances in India as well as abroad. He will also play some of his own composition of ragas

So ladies let’s start 2017 by listening to Indian Instrumental Classical music which as Mr Shah says “he plays for his soul and to get peace which he would like to share with the Indus members
