21st Century Government: The role of civil society and think tanks

Much has changed since Independence. Today’s government leaders not only have to deliver on ghar, kapda, makaan, but also deal with complex problems like climate change, urbanisation and cyber security. But has 19th century government been updated for 21st century challenges? Where do policy ideas come from? How can think tanks support governments to respond to sudden challenges like the Covid pandemic? In this session, Pritika will discuss how civil society and think tanks can support civil servants to respond to complex challenges, independent from the politics that consume so much of the national debate.

Pritika Hingorani is CEO (India) of Artha Global, a policy research organization that works with civil servants across the developing world. Pritika spent the last decade helping scale IDFC Institue, a think tank. She has a Masters in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a BA in development economics from Bryn Mawr College.
