“PERSIAN LEGENDS”

Persian Legends of yester years were told by Parsi and Irani grandmothers to their children and grandchildren.

These stories which were passed down from generations are sadly lost due to the busy hurried daily lives of the Zoroastrians.

Indus  member Persis Vatcha will speak to us about Rustom and Sorab, the stories of Shah Faridoon and Zohak, King Hoshang, Peer-e-Sabz, Zal and the Simurgh, and of course Firdoosi and the Shah Namah.Indus member  Jeannie Madan will show the appropriate pictures.

Persis has done her BA in History and MA in Ancient Asian Cultures winning the first prize in the University of Bombay. She has been awarded the Chhatrapati Shivaji Award, Arjuna Award and Gaurav Puraskar Award for her excellence in swimming.  She was captain of the Indian ladies swimming team for the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games in 1982.
