SOMY ALI – Rising against all odds

Actress Somy Ali seemed to be living a fairy tale life. A 16 year old Pakistani girl chasing and achieving her Bollywood dream; a romantic relationship with a superstar … what more could a young girl want?

But behind the glitter were stories violence and toxic behaviour. Finally escaping to the US - she reinvented herself. Her own experiences of being abused and raped as a child, motivated her to start her NGO – No More Tears USA – which rescues and rehabilitates victims of domestic violence and trafficking.

Somy Ali joins us from Miami – in a pre-recorded interview, where she speaks freely and frankly about her life.

Actresses are often dismissed as frivolous and shallow, but we can learn so much from this courageous woman who rose like a phoenix from the ashes of her own life.
